TEES supports research that strengthens the economic base of Texas through engineering and technology and collaboration with industry.
The Texas Engineering Experiment Station is the engineering research agency of the State of Texas, providing quality research and practical engineering answers to critical state and national needs. The agency partners with academic institutions, industries and communities to solve problems and help improve quality of life, promote economic development and enhance the educational systems of Texas. With headquarters in College Station, the agency’s contributions are made in every region of Texas through its divisions and affiliations with 15 Texas universities, one community college and 35 multidisciplinary research centers. TEES serves as a catalyst for collaborations that position Texas to be especially competitive for federal dollars and plays a major role in strengthening research leadership across the state.

Did You Know?
- For every dollar of general revenue provided by the state, TEES generates almost $13 in other funds, primarily external research contract funds.
- Research on cost-effective technologies for prolonging the airworthiness of aging aircraft conducted by the Academic Center for Aging Aircraft has resulted in a 54% productivity increase at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. The Center is headquartered in San Antonio.
- Through the Texas Rural Systemic Initiative, TEES has helped 88 school districts including almost 90,000 students along the border in south Texas improve and accelerate the performance of K-12 students in mathematics and science.
- TEES serves industries located in every region of the state. Major initiatives include the Polymer Technology Center and the Global Petroleum Research Institute, which work with the petrochemical and oil and gas companies located along the Texas coast and in East Texas.
- The System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program performs evaluations of equipment for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the emergency response community.
