The Texas A&M University System invites its students and faculty to the Third Annual Pathways to the Doctorate Research Symposium to be held November 4-5, 2005, on the campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

All Pathways events will take place on the Texas A&M-Kingsville campus in the Memorial Student Union Building.

Undergraduate and graduate students from A&M System universities and the Health Science Center are encouraged to submit abstracts for poster presentations from their current or past research projects.

Students and faculty who would like to attend as observers are also welcome.

Awards will be given for first, second and third place in undergraduate and graduate categories. It is possible there will be multiple third place awards. Prizes are $200 for first place, $150 for second place and $25 for third place.

Abstract guidelines and poster guidelines are available now. Examples of posters and abstracts from the winning posters may also be viewed.

On-line registration and abstract submission opens August 15, 2005. Those submitting abstracts must register and submit the abstract by October 14, 2005 5:00 p.m.. No abstracts will be accepted after October 14, 2005 5:00 p.m.

Those who wish to attend the symposium, but are not submitting abstracts may register until October 21, 2005 5:00 p.m.

It is preferred that on-line payment be made at the time of registration. Institutional payment via mail will be accepted, but registration will not be complete until payment is received. The registration cost is $30 per person plus $1 as handling charge. Refreshments on Friday, Saturday, dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday are all included in the registration fee.

Information for Faculty Interested in Undergraduate Research. Dr. Robert Webb, professor of physics and associate dean for undergraduate research at Texas A&M University, will lead a faculty forum from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, in Room 102 of Sam Fore Hall. The topic is Undergraduate Research: Cloning Successes and Addressing Obstacles. It is primarily intended for faculty involved in undergraduate research, but the session is open to any interested faculty.
