A&M System shows
record minority- and woman-owned business participation in 2005
Texas A&M International University ranked first among the 120 state agencies
in the use of historically underutilized businesses in 2005, and eight other
A&M System members were among the top 25.
TEES lab receives $2.3 million Army contract for lean manufacturing initiatives
A
Texas Engineering Experiment Station laboratory at Brooks City-Base in
San Antonio has received $2.3 million from the U.S. Army to support lean
manufacturing initiatives at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. Lean manufacturing
(also called the Toyota Production System) works to increase competitiveness
by reducing waste in processes.

livestock team ranked seventh nationally
The
livestock judging team at Texas A&M University-Commerce finished
the season ranked seventh nationally. The team scored 4,700 points out
of a possible 5,000 and was only 12 points behind Texas A&M University
at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville,
Ky.

regionally by Kiplinger's
Texas A&M is the top-ranked university in Texas and the Southwest in Kiplinger's 2006
list of the nation's 100 "best values in public colleges." Overall,
Texas A&M ranks 25th on the list, based on a combination of academic qualify
and affordability.
TAMIU receives critical
reaffirmation of accreditation from SACS
Texas A&M International University has received word of its successful reaffirmation
of accreditation by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools. The university's bid for reaffirmation takes place every 10 years
and includes an exhaustive self-study process that impacts all levels of the
university community.
